Some people have families that are separated. Divorce is the legal dissolution of a marriage. According to US Divorce Rates and Statistics, about 1,000 people each year get a divorce in the United States.

According to World of Psychology, most kids who have parents who are divorced go down into depression.“Stay positive, don’t go down into depression” said Gannon G. About 20 percent of teens go through depression before they go into adulthood.

“It is hard having parents who are divorced. You want them together, you don’t exactly want two sets of everything, you want one set of parents and you love them but they don’t love each other as much as they love their child.”Said Savannah R.

Most parents, when they get a divorce, move out of their partner’s house. Courtney C. said, “You get two sets of presents, because you have two different houses, and that is good because you get more stuff.”

Some divorces can go smoothly, while others are painful with months of confusion, legal counsel, and court appointments. Others can happen quickly, if parents agree with proposals to separate property and children.

Some students on campus wonder what life would be like if divorce had not occurred.  “We would still be living in Mexico, because that’s where my dad mostly worked.

“We would have more money, and our parents would be more focused on us,” said Mateo J.

“We would be wealthier, we could be happier,” said Gannon G.

Divorce is a hard thing to go through. Whether it is hard right now, or in the future. “Hang on and it gets better no matter how long time goes by.” said Mateo J.
