For the first time in franchise history, the Eagles have won the Super Bowl. Philadelphia beat New England 41-33 to hoist the Vince Lombardi trophy. The Patriots fell short of their sixth championship title in the 21st century. This game was one for the ages.

At the end of the first quarter, the score was 9-3, Eagles. Then, Philadelphia expanded their lead by 4. At the midway point, the Pats were down 22-12. This transitioned the event to the halftime show where Justin Timberlake performed some of his most popular songs. He also did a special tribute to the late singer, Prince.

Even with the absence of holograms, Timberlake still managed to do a tribute to Prince. JT sat at a piano and sang ‘I Would Die 4 U’ while a video of Prince played on a banner behind him. Then, downtown Minnesota was blanketed in a sea of purple light.” said Pete Blackburn of cbssports.com wrote.

When Timberlake’s spectacular show came to an end, the second half of Super Bowl LII commenced. Things in the third quarter got a little more interesting and action-packed. In the first three minutes of the last half, the Patriots scored a touchdown to make it 22-19. Once the third quarter ended, the Patriots were still down by three.

The fourth quarter was one of its own. The Patriots took the lead early and forced the Eagles to score with just five minutes on the clock. Eventually, Philadelphia scored a touchdown with two minutes left. They went for the two-point conversion but failed in their attempt. They were up by five points when Tom Brady and his squad tried to get ahead. Brady made a few passes before he was sacked, which caused him to fumble the ball. This put the Eagles in a favorable position. They were able to get three points from a field goal. Now, the Eagles were ahead by eight points.

Tom Brady had a tiny bit of time left on the clock before the game ended. He was forced to throw a hail mary from mid-field. His pass was chucked into the end zone where Rob Gronkowski was surrounded by Eagles. Sadly for the Pats, the Eagles successfully stopped the pass from falling into the hands of “The Gronk.”

In 2018, the Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl. This game set a record throughout the history of football. They managed to obtain the most combined yards in a single game. Now that the Eagles have won their first Super Bowl, they have hopes of returning in 2019. Fly Eagles, fly!
