Could lack of sleep affect your grades? Have you ever wondered why you don’t do well in school? Do you think that you should sleep more?

Kids who don’t have enough sleep oftentimes don’t do well in school. Scientifically, sleep is food for the brain. If you skip sleep, it is harmful for your body and can even be deadly as you get older. Many children suffer from sleep disorders because they stay up all night. You are more likely to have an accident or an illness if you don’t get enough sleep.

According to Dr. William Dement from Sleep Deprivation, “You’re not healthy, unless your sleep is healthy.”

Lack of sleep limits your ability to learn, listen, concentrate, and solve problems in class. It also makes people less productive. A good seven to eight hours of sleep a night can fix this problem.

Sleeping is as important as the air you breathe. Many children, who are sleep deprived, are more likely to do poorly on tests, exams, and even while playing a sport. When you are fighting to keep from dozing off, it definitely can impact a grade for the worse.

In contrast, a good night’s sleep connects and strengthens the memories of whatever you learned that day.

According to the National Sleep Foundation students should get at least get eight hours of sleep. If you do not get enough sleep, you may forget important information for school. Lack of sleep may even cause you to eat unhealthy and sweet foods which may cause you to gain weight.

Maybe next time your grades start to drop, you should shut of the TV, phone, or computer, and go to sleep a bit earlier.
