Super Bowl LI

Josh L., Writer

The Super Bowl is undoubtedly the most exciting  games of all sports. It brings Americans together to watch 4 hours of football, eat junk food, and (my favorite) rush to the bathroom at halftime. This year, the Super Bowl had to go down as one of the greatest of all-time.

Super Bowl LI had probably the most boring first-half of all-time. The Falcons and Patriots weren’t able to score in the first quarter. Finally, the Falcons caught fire. They went on a 21 point run, scoring mostly with the MVP and star quarterback Matt Ryan. The end of the second quarter was capped of by a 81 yard pick-six by Robert Alford. Finally, with 2 seconds on the clock the Patriots were able to score. At the end of the half, the final score was 21-3.

After another touchdown by the Falcons, many people thought the game was over. But, Tom Brady finally got the team moving. At the end of the 3rd quarter, the Patriots got a touchdown but, missed the kick. The 4th quarter was all Patriots. The real star of the game was the defense they held the explosive Falcons to 0 points in the whole 4th quarter. The Patriots went on to tie the game with a field goal and two touchdowns. After blowing up a 25 point lead, the game went to the first overtime in Super Bowl history. The Patriots won the coin toss and easily moved down the field. After a strong wave of defense by the Falcons, the Patriots were held two yards away from the end-zone. Finally, New England broke the plain with a 2 yard rush by James White. This gave Brady his 5th Super Bowl win (the most of any QB), another Super Bowl MVP title, and  5 super bowls in the last 15 years for the Patriots.
