Star Wars has inspired children when it came out and it still does today.

I was playing my Xbox, chatting with my Star Wars fanatic friend, when out of the blue he tells me that Kenny Baker slipped away.  Who is Kenny Baker, you ask?  He’s the guy who fit inside R2-D2.  No one saw his face.  But they knew he was there.

On the 13th of August, 2016, Kenny Baker, better known as the actor of the cherished R2-D2, breathed his last.  He lived an extensive life, full of eccentric jobs and successes.

In his life, he was an extraordinary circus and cabaret performer before his casting in Star Wars.  He had an acknowledged comedy act named the Minitones.  He learned how to skate and participated in many ice shows.  Then George Lucas hired him, as he was perfect for playing the short, stout R2-D2.

The 3 foot 8 in. actor played one of the most adored robot characters of all time.  His passing away was bittersweet, as fans, family, and friends mourned his death, but were happy he passed on in peace.

Kenny Baker was not the only Star Wars death.  Erik Bauersfeld, the voice of Admiral Ackbar and Bib Fortuna, died recently on April 3, 2016. They both add to the loss of many significant actors this year.

We are all here to make sure his entertainment legacy lasts and our grandchildren and their grandchildren are able to pass on the magic of Star Wars.

As we know, Star Wars is getting old, and so are its actors.  But there is a new age for Star Wars, with Disney having recently bought Lucasfilm.  While some may doubt the success of the franchise’s future, Disney is one of the best at creating decent movies, and they might be the ideal choice for the Star Wars franchise.  We all know more is to come, so do not despair.
Yoda once said, “Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not. Attachment leads to jealousy. The shadow of greed, that is.”
