ODD-The Next Medical Phenomenon
February 22, 2018
There is a new phenomenon spreading across the nation. It is known as ODD, also known as Obsessive Disney Disorder. As it states in the name, ODD is a term used for anyone who is obsessed with Disney. If you say you have never seen this happen, think of all the little girls who walk around dressed as Elsa and Moana. Perhaps this is just a phase that’s part of childhood, but it’s actually the beginning stages of ODD.
The first outbreak of this disorder dates back to November 18, 1928. This was the day Walt Disney introduced Steamboat Willie. Mickey instantly stole the hearts of many. Two years later the first Mickey Book was introduced to the public. Before, people were safe. But Disney has no limits. Mickey (and his ever-growing family) appears everywhere.
Now, most people are lucky to get over their obsession, but there are still some people who’ve progressed into the later stages of ODD: writing fanfiction stories, watching all the movies on repeat, and listening to Disney songs constantly. ODD is highly contagious, and is primarily spread when people with ODD force their friends and family to dress up and watch movies with them, getting sucked into the madness. There is no known cure for ODD, but there is a theory currently studied about how watching a 10-hour marathon of Universal Entertainment movies can cure Obsessive Disney Disorder. However binge-watching Minions only succeeds replacing ODD with Minion Adoration Disorder (MAD).
Growing and tainting citizens all over the nation, Disney is helping in the spreading of this disease by expanding the number of Disney stores worldwide. One can only hope that they are unintentionally doing this, but many believe that they intentionally created ODD to begin with, and ingenious marketing trick. We can only hope that by raising awareness people will rise up together against ODD, and find a cure for this ridiculous plague.
