Trump Declares Opioids a Public Health Emergency
October 30, 2017
Opioids, a pain-killer drug, kills more than 140 Americans each day. US President Donald Trump has finally declared this deadly drug a public health emergency. The plan to target abuse of opioids will be funded through the Public Health Emergency Fund, holding only $57,000.
President Trump said, “More people are dying from drug overdoses today than from gun homicides and motor vehicles combined…These overdoses are driven by a massive increase in addiction to prescription painkillers, heroin and other opioids.”
