Cleveland Indians Made History
September 18, 2017
Over the years, there have been many great records set in Major League Baseball, like Joe Dimaggio’s 56 consecutive games with a hit and Pete Rose’s record for most hits of all-time. But one that really stands out is the Indians’ record of 22 consecutive wins set on September 14, 2017.
On September 14, 2017 the Cleveland Indians defeated the Royals 3 – 2 to claim the record of the most wins in a row. With this win, they staked their place in history (previously set by the 1935 Cubs).
One thing that makes this achievement very remarkable is they had 11 consecutive road games. Without home field advantage for more than a week, the Indians still managed to win all of their games.
According to Mike Axlsa of CBS Sports “They came back to beat the Kansas City Royals(CLE 3, KC 2) in the most thrilling game of the 22-game winning streak.”
On September 14, the Cleveland Indians crushed the MLB record for most consecutive wins. But they earned this achievement because they played the Kansas City Royals, who are the reigning 2015 World Series Champions. History was made on September 14, 2017.
