Dara Khosrowshahi, Expedia’s CEO, was offered the position of Uber’s CEO on Sunday, August 27th, 2017. He was chosen among three finalists, including Jeff Immelt of General Electric and Meg Whitman of Hewlett Packard Enterprise. The decision solved Uber’s CEO deficit since Travis Kalanick stepped down in June.

As said on the NY Times, “Uber chose Dara Khosrowshahi, who leads the online travel company Expedia, to be its chief executive on Sunday…Mr. Khosrowshahi emerged as the leading candidate from a field of three finalists over a weekend of Uber board meetings.”
