Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was killed speaking at Utah Valley University by a shooter with a rifle on Wednesday, September 10. Authorities have called the attack a “targeted political assassination.” Kirk, aged 31, was participating in a “Prove Me Wrong” debate when a single bullet struck him. The bullet was believed to have been fired from a rooftop by someone in all black. He died in front of a large crowd, which included family. Through Thursday, the shooter remains at large, although a rifle was recovered nearby. A multi-agency search is in progress. After his death, tributes poured in from across the political spectrum condemning the political violence. President Trump announced that he would posthumously award Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom. All flags are lowered, honoring Charlie Kirk. He leaves behind his wife, Erika Kirk, a 3-year-old daughter and a 1-year-old son.
