The Dodgers were up 3-0 on Tuesday night before the fourth game of the World Series. Because of their past success from the NLCS into the initial games at Chavez Ravine, their confidence was running high having dominated the Yankees on Friday and Saturday.
But everything changed on Tuesday night as the Yankees won in crushing style 11-4. Nobody expected that result in LA, including local fans here at Day Creek.
“I can’t believe we lost to the Yankees in Game 4. It was tragic. 11-4! We were down by that much!” said William G.
The Yankees found new hope behind Anthony Volpe, who hit an unexpected grand slam in the third inning to lead the team to a season-stretching win.
“They might have a chance to win the World Series, but they will need all the luck they can get to achieve this goal,” said Jonathan S., a 7th grader on campus.
The Yankees found solid pitching and have a new drive to stay alive in hopes of preventing the Dodgers from winning the championship, the fourth series the two teams have shared in MLB history. But things are still looking rough for the Bronx Bombers.
“The Yankees need to beat the Dodgers. [They] have so many good players like Aaron Judge and Juan Soto. They even have a former Dodger player, Alex Verdugo. I believe the Yankees can win this series. They have the resources to do it,” said Kyle T.
Game 5 will pick up on Wednesday night, as the Dodgers hope to hope to bring things to a close. Once again, they are facing a championshipYankees squad in an unfriendly atmosphere. If they pull it off, the World Series will be over, and the Dodgers will win their eighth title.
“The Dodgers need to step up their game. We [did horrible] in Game 4, so it only makes sense we need to win Game 5 and get that World Series title. We’re only one win away!” said Nathan C.
