When you think of ice cream shops, you probably think of Cold Stone Creamery or Baskin Robbins. Some people probably don’t expect Handel’s Ice Cream to make that list.

Handel’s was first established on July 15, 1945, in Youngstown, Ohio. Today, there are over 70 stores in ten different states. As the ice cream shop continues to grow, their revenue is $30 million per year.

When you walk in, the fresh air blows against your face. You smell a mixture of different flavors. There are so many vibrant colors as you walk up to order. You find it hard to decide what to get, but then you spot it. It didn’t look perfect but you knew that it would taste extraordinary.

The staff is incredibly nice with the ability to help with any question. Even if we had a complicated or large order, the staff “handled” it patiently and with a smile.

One of the more interesting ice cream flavors on the menu is the “Blue Monster.” It got its name from Cookie Monster in Sesame Street. Even though it might not be for someone on a 2,000 calories per day diet, the “Blue Monster” ice cream from Handel’s is a perfect cheat-day treat. It’s vanilla ice cream dyed blue, with Oreos and chunks of chocolate chip cookie dough pieces. Ordinarily, you would say it looked unappealing until you took the first bite.

Overall, the Blue Monster flavor is a 9 out of 10. The only reason it is a 9 and not a perfect 10 is because the appearance of the flavor is not the most eye-pleasing. Although, it does surprise you with an appetizing taste!

Handel’s options are known for being uniquely smooth and creamy. And for a texture difference, the crunch of the chocolate chip cookies makes this flavor fantastic.

Overall, the Howl gives Handel’s a 10 out of 10. All of the flavors, including the Blue Monster, are delicious, and the service is beyond compare!
