The Hunger Games Review
February 5, 2016
Hunger Games was good. It covered all the major points from the book. Sure a couple edits here and there, but that’s how movies are. They didn’t change anything drastic, like creating Katniss’s younger sister or a younger cousin to take care of because their aunt was ill. One thing that was a bit bothersome was the “lovey-dovey” parts. Whenever they kissed, it just seemed forced. WHY WOULD KATNISS KISS PEETA WHILE HE’S WRITHING IN PAIN?! Yes, they were doing it just for show (at least Katniss was) but it got kind of annoying, especially if you’re not a “romance” person. They also took tiny details from the movie, and when they did, well…the scenes that they replaced them with looked out of place. For example, when Katniss was offered a free Mockingjay pin from an old lady at the market. That’s not as good as when she was given it by Madge in the novel. I guess it was more or less interesting, depending on how you saw it. Or you just didn’t care. Small detail changes like that are okay, but it just seemed annoying, though you can’t always expect the directors to copy the oringinal word for word. Ultimately, the movie was well-paced and was very close to the original book (which was great by the way).
