Over the weekend, games 3, 4 and 5 of the World Series took place. The Dodgers took game 3 and the Red Sox won games 4 and 5. Boston, therefore, won their 4th title since 2004.

In a thrilling game 3, the Dodgers defeated the Red Sox 3-1 in a whopping 18 innings, an MLB record. The game lasted 7 hours and 20 minutes. The game was tied by the end of nine innings; with Joc Pederson and Jackie Bradley Jr. both hitting homers. In a breath-taking thirteenth inning, both Max Muncy and Brock Holt scored on throwing errors. 5 innings later, Max Muncy hit the winning home run for the Dodgers. Both teams each used 9 pitchers.

Approximately 17 hours later, Game 4 was on its way. The Red Sox won 9-6. In the 6th, the Dodgers scored on two occasions. First, Cody Bellinger’s hit sent Justin Turner to home plate. Then, Yasiel Puig hit a 3-run homer. The Red Sox answered back, hitting their own 3-run bomb. They followed with another home run to tie the game up. The Red Sox closed out the game in the ninth with 5 runs. The Dodgers failed to complete a comeback in front of the home crowd.

On Sunday, with the Red Sox ready to close out the series, Boston defeated the Dodgers 5-1. Clayton Kershaw didn’t have his best in the 7 innings he pitched. Boston scored all of their runs with 4 homers. After scoring in the first inning, the Dodgers were held scoreless due to David Price’s wonderful 7-inning outing. Steve Pearce’s two homers in Game 5 earned him the World Series MVP.
