Many U.S airlines such as – JetBlue, United, Delta, American, and other carriers are raising checked baggage fees for flights within the U.S, North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. A few days after JetBlue raised its baggage fees, United Airlines also decided to raise their checked baggage fees from $25 to $30, on August 31. Adding up to $5 more. Weeks later, on September 19, Delta Airlines announced that they were going to raise similar fees. It did not take long after, for American airlines to join JetBlue, United, and Delta to raise baggage fees. September 20, a day after Delta announced, American airlines charged a first checked bag $30, and a second checked bag costing from $35 to $40. The checked baggage fees are claimed to effect immediately.

“As we continue to make investments that make travel on United better, we are making adjustments to our checked bag fees in select markets — most of which have not been changed for the past eight years. These changes allow us to continue investing in the overall customer experience in today’s marketplace,” United Spokeswoman said.
