After 16 seasons with the Spurs, Manu Ginobili, 40, announced his retirement. His statement read, “Today, with a wide range of feelings, I’m announcing my retirement from basketball. IMMENSE GRATITUDE to everyone (family, friends, teammates, coaches, staff, fans) involved in my life in the last 23 years. It’s been a fabulous journey. Way beyond my wildest dreams.”

He was drafted in 1999 by the Spurs with the 57th overall pick. He was a 2-time All-Star, had 4 rings, and was the 2007-2008 6th Man of the Year. He averaged 13.3 points, 3.8 assists, and 3.5 rebounds in his career. He also shot 82.7% from the charity stripe and 36.9% from beyond the arc. He also helped the Spurs win several key games with game winners and key blocks.

The NBA community will miss Ginobili greatly. He has gotten much praise from several players around the league, including Kobe Bryant, Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash, Stephen Curry, Lebron James and several others. Ginobili’s career will be cherished and remembered for several years to come.
