First Electric Ferrari Beats Original In Race
Californian Eric Hutchinson converted a 1978 Ferrari 308 GTS into an electric sports car. A professional driver raced both a stock GTS and the electric version on a timed course. After both cars were driven, the electric car finished ten seconds faster. Ferrari CEO previously announced that they would move towards electrification in 2020; Hutchinson chose not to wait.
“Being from California, electric right now is the way to be and then the good thing about it is there’s no emissions — all you ever have to do is change brakes and change tires so it’s something that I don’t feel bad about driving,” Hutchinson said, “It’s fast, it’s way better than any other electric car that you’re going to drive on the market today, and it’s a Ferrari.”
