The Cleveland Clinic discovered the cure to Alzheimer’s Disease in mice. Now, they must adapt the cure to work in humans.

Researchers at the Cleveland Clinic were able to cure Alzheimer’s Disease in mice. By deleting a single enzyme, they were able to completely reverse the growth of amyloid plaques, which cause Alzheimer’s. They were able to remove the enzyme by altering the gene, BACE1.

As said on ABC News, “By using BACE1 inhibitors to gradually lower the enzyme’s levels, researchers saw reduced neuron loss and better brain function in the mice, offering hope for human subjects down the line, according to the study.”
