Elon Musk strapped his own Tesla Roadster onto the most powerful rocket launched from US soil since the 1970s.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, strapped his own personal Tesla Roadster onto the Falcon Heavy, the most powerful rocket launched from the USA since the 1970s. In addition, a dummy nicknamed, “Starman,” was placed behind the wheel of the Tesla. The flight was live streamed on Youtube for over four hours.

Elon Musk wrote in an Instagram post, “[A]nything boring is terrible, especially companies, so we decided to send something unusual, something that made us feel. The payload will be an original Tesla Roadster, playing Space Oddity, on a billion year elliptic Mars orbit.”
