In the MLB offseason, the Pittsburgh Pirates sold their ace pitcher, Gerrit Cole, and the face of their franchise, Andrew McCutchen. Cole went to the reigning world champion Houston Astros. Andrew McCutchen was traded to the San Francisco Giants, hoping to be a part of their rebuilding process.

According to Arthur Weinstein of sportingnews.com, “McCutchen went to the Giants on Monday for reliever Kyle Crick, minor league outfielder Bryan Reynolds (the Giants No. 4 prospect, according to MLB.com) and $500,000 of international pool space.

Gerrit Cole was traded for RHP Joe Musgrove, RHP Michael Feliz, third basema, Colin Moran and minor league outfielder Jason Martin.

With these two enormous trades, two-time All-Star Josh Harrison announced on Tuesday that he also wanted to be traded.

To add on to all these events occurring, fans have started a petition asking the MLB to force the owner of the Pirates, Bob Nutting, to sell the team.

The Pittsburgh Pirates plan to be back in contention as they now start to rebuild from their minor league farm system. But before then, they need to sort out the tension between the fans and their organization.
