On Thursday, April 6th, President Trump ordered the military to carry out a missile attack on a Syrian airbase for using chemical weapons against citizens. The attack did not gain approval from Congress or the UN Security Council, which raised the question of whether Trump had the legal authority to carry out the attack. According to the New York TImes, “The strike raises two sets of legal issues.” One is about whether it is legal for any country to attack another, and the other is who gets to decide whether the United States should attack another nation.
