On Thursday, February 23, Mrs. Kuramata took 36 eighth graders to Cal Poly Pomona to motivate them to attend college in the future. After this field trip, Mrs. Kuramata hoped that her students would see that college would be an exciting experience.

“You can do anything that you want [in college],” said eighth grader Gabe A.

Most of Mrs. Kuramata’s students had never thought of college before this trip, but getting to privately tour Cal Poly got them thinking. Going on this trip meant receiving the opportunity to see what college is really like.

“We got to see the dorms and we got to see the gym and met a lot of kids,” said Michael C.

Before this trip, all of the students had their own mindsets on the idea of college. Some wanted to go, but most of them didn’t think about it. After their experience, many of their thoughts changed for the better.

“I knew that college was hard before, but I realized that it’s even harder,” Gabe said.

Thanks to this field trip, most of the students can now confidently say, “I will definitely go to college.”
