A week of powerful storms has greatly alleviated the water shortage that has been tormenting Californians for about 5 years. The drought conditions in Northern California have been improved, but water supply in Southern California and the Central Valley continues to be an issue. According to the United States Drought Monitor, more than 40% of the state is no longer in a drought. According to the LA times, a giant strip of the Golden State was declared to have no abnormal signs of dryness. The percentage of the state that fell into that category rose from 18% last week to almost 35% after the storm.
