PBIS Reboot
Day Creek’s recent series of PBIS reboots the week January 12 worked to provide a helpful brain refresh on the school’s core expectations. The administration’s presentations focused on continuing habits that help create a better environment for every Coyote on campus.
Rather than simply listing rules, the reboot emphasized the importance of making good decisions and staying out of trouble. By revisiting these expectations, the school reminded students that doing the right thing is not just about following rules, but about maintaining mutual respect and common courtesy.
“If you see something, say something,” said Mrs.Fernandez, Day Creek’s assistant principal.
Students walked away with a renewed understanding of their shared responsibilities, with the goal of keeping the school year on the right track.
Fentanyl Assembly

Fentanyl is a potent synthetic opioid known for its extreme danger. It is 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine. U.S. drug enforcement administrators say it is the “single deadliest drug threat our nation has ever encountered.” Its high potency significantly increases the risk of overdose.
During an assembly on Tuesday, January 20, students learned about the story of a young teenager named Chevy, a 17-year old former addict who passed away, the result of unknowingly consuming fentanyl laced while vaping.
When his sister, Jojo, realized his choices, she simply and directly asked him, “Why are you being stupid?”
One growing local concern is the rise of rainbow fentanyl pills, which are colorfully disguised to deceive and attract children and young teens. These pills make the drug appear less dangerous while increasing the risk of accidental overdose.
The recent assembly aimed to renew awareness about the dangers of fentanyl and encourage students to take substance abuse seriously.
