While searching for a fresh new restaurant, the Howl stumbled upon The Kroft. This new addition to Haven City claims that their scratch kitchen brings handcrafted goodness in every bite, so we were ecstatic to try it.
The restaurant’s name “Kroft” can refer to an area of arable land near a cottage, or it can come from the word “cræfta,” meaning “craftsman,” or from the German word “kraft,” meaning “strength.” Whatever the case, the name fits.
The Kroft is a lunch and dinner place that opens at 11:30 am and closes at 9 pm. However, on weekends, it opens 30 minutes earlier at 11 am. I made sure to arrive right on time so that I could taste everything there.
The decor inside the restaurant had a modern vibe including a sign with their signature pig logo, a black and white color theme, and wooden-paneled and black marble counters.
The Howl sampled the Wagyu Smash Fries, Wagyu Smash Burger, and Wagyu Spicy Jack Smash Burger.
The BBQ Wagyu Smash Fries were good. These salty and savory fries contain two wagyu beef patties, secret sauce, American cheese, grilled onions, and pickles. While the patty and fries were a great mix, we wished that the patty was ground up instead of having to mix up the meat and fries manually. The fries were your average fries, but the sauce helped bring it together.
The Wagyu Smash Burger was delicious. It has two Wagyu beef patties, two slices of American cheese, grilled onions, pickles, secret sauce, and a Brioche bun. The burger was juicy and packed a punch of flavor. The Howl would highly recommend trying this yummy smash burger.
Kroft’s spicy burger, called the Wagyu Spicy Jack Smash Burger, is a party in your mouth. This meal is made with two Wagyu beef patties, two slices of spicy jack cheese, grilled onions, spicy candied bacon, sauteed mushrooms, roasted jalapeno garlic mayo, and a Brioche bun. The burger packs a punch which is perfect for anyone who loves a good kick to their food.
The French Fries were just your average McDonalds or In-N-Out fries. This doesn’t mean they were bad fries, they were exactly what you’d expect, which is not what we expected.
The food came out relatively fast and the store had great customer service. The Howl definitely suggests you head on over to Haven City Market and try The Kroft. The Howl would definitely come back again.
