April Fools’ Day

April Fools’ Day is an unofficial holiday that we celebrate every year on the 1st of that month. Some people play pranks on others, while many are the ones getting pranked.

How did April Fools’ Day begin? It started in 1700 when English pranksters began to play tricks on each other. No one knows exactly how this “holiday” carried on, but the tradition stuck.

Some people enjoy April Fools’ Day for the sake of a joke. Certain people simply like to play pranks for a good laugh.

“It just adds a little humor in the day,” says Kyla G., a seventh grade student.

While some people are the pranksters, the majority of people are the ones getting tricked. They seem to always be the target for the joke.

“I like pranking my sister, because she is the only person at home that doesn’t get mad,” said Abhi A., another student at DCIS.

A few people plan elaborate pranks to play on their friends, family, or anyone else who falls for it, using anything from jello to silly string.

“Eggs, milk, and meat are your best options for pranking”, said Carina C., a seventh grade student.

All in all, April Fools’ Day is a fun day for pranksters, and perhaps not so enjoyable for the hoaxed.
