Fifteen cases of E. coli poisoning have been reported by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. They found that the slivered onions in McDonald’s Quarter Pounder were the culprit. Out of the 27 cases of these reports, sadly one person had passed away from it.
So far, three lawsuits have been filed against McDonald’s regarding the incident.
McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski apologized for the incident. “I’m relieved that this situation appears to be contained and I remain confident in the safety of eating at McDonald’s,” Kempczinski said.
