Big Bear eagles’ eggs, “unlikely to hatch”

Shadow and Jackie have been closely observed by Friends of Big Bear Valley (FOBBV).  The two bald eagles have gone viral as FOBBV continues to record their nest for the public on Youtube. Recently, Jackie had been fighting to keep her three eggs warm during our harsh winter.

However, FOBBV recently shared some unfortunate news. The nonprofit stated on Facebook that, “As of today, there has been no confirmed pips in any of the eggs. This is later than Jackie’s eggs have hatched in the past, so it is probably unlikely for them to hatch at this point.”

This means that the initial phase of breakage of the egg from a hatchling hasn’t happened, which means it’s probably too late for any to form. Jackie is still trying to take care of her eggs with hopes that they still will hatch. Friends of Big Bear Valley haven’t given up: “As someone pointed out to me, miracles do happen.”
