“I know my mom [doesn’t] allow me to date people in middle school. If [my parents] notice [that something is off], and they tell me about [what they see], I [would] probably tell the person that I am dating that we should break up for now because my parents [don’t] allow me to date. My parents don’t allow me to date in middle school because Chinese parents think that if you have a relationship during middle school [or] high school it would distract you when you’re learning since you would be thinking about that person when you are supposed to be studying.”
