The era of DVDs is soon coming to an end for the Best Buy Corporation. The big technology retailer, Best Buy will be one of the first companies to stop selling DVDs, but other big companies such as Walmart and Target will soon be following in Best Buy’s footsteps. After this holiday season, starting in early 2024, Best Buy will stop selling DVDs permanently. They plan on removing the whole DVD section entirely and replacing it with new products. Many companies including Best Buy are not selling enough DVDs for it to be a profitable product to sell. This is due to the fact that no one is buying DVDs anymore because of online streaming services, such as Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+. Today, DVDs are pretty expensive at about $20 for just one movie. Where as, Netflix is about $23 a month and you get about 5,879 titles.

Big retailers, such as Best Buy are stopping the sales of DVD’s as the demand for it has lowered.
