After the recent Expressions Art Contest, a ceremony was hosted to celebrate the winners of the competition. Out of all the categories, 9 participants managed to come out on top.

Out of the category Film production; the 6th grade champion was Tathiana U. and Ruiee S. was the 7th grade winner.

Art is a type of outlook for me, and writing has really helped me convey my feelings into words.

— Ruiee S.

Some artists, like Ruiee S., join these competitions to express themselves in a way they don’t usually in school. “Art is a type of outlook for me, and writing has really helped me convey my feelings into words,” said Ruiee S.

From the genre Visual Arts; 6th grader David K., 7th grader Molin W., 8th grader Alexandra A., and school secretary, Mrs. Ramos reigned victorious.

“It feels nice to have that recognition, I’d only do it to win an award but I do it to also for the feedback” said Mrs. Ramos

Out of the category Literature; 6th grader Asia C. and 7th grader River Y. took first place in their separate sections.

Out of the category Music Composition; 6th grader Natalya W. was the victor of her division.

She thinks the key to winning is to maintain self-confidence while also enjoying the experience. “I was really happy because I knew I [could] do it, but when you feel like you’re getting picked to do something, but you actually get to do it, it feels really exciting,” said Natalya W.
