You’ve probably heard or maybe even enjoyed one of these. Boba rose to power in the 1990s, and its reign is far from over. 

Students and teachers often enjoy the sweet, chewy texture of the famous tapioca boba paired with a number of different flavors.  One of the most popular drinks right now is the famous milk tea. 

Milk Tea comes in many different flavors and can be customized in many different ways, but the way it’s mostly drunk is the plain, but classic, original.

“Milk tea [is my favorite], It’s a classic flavor, it’s one of the originals,” said 7th grader A.J.

The highlight of the milk tea is the chewy tapioca balls found at the bottom as a surprise, which contrasts the creaminess of the tea.

“I like the milky creaminess of the tea, and then you’ve got those weird little tapioca things at the bottom that are totally unexpected but they just add to it. It’s great,” said 7th-grade teacher and boba lover Mr.Evans

Gen Z has made boba the frontline of all popular drinks, even starting to push Starbucks to the side.

“Boba all day, every day. Starbucks is just not as tasty as the boba,” said Evans.

Even though boba might have better flavor, Starbucks might be a tad cheaper.

“The only thing Starbucks has going for it is it’s a bit cheaper, and Boba costs way too much for what it is and what you get, which is a really good thing, otherwise I’d be there every day,” said Evans.

Boba has certainly had an uprising that can now be found across the region. You can find them in shopping centers and malls, and easily enjoy them on the go.  Places such as Krak Boba, Boba Break, and It’s Boba Time, have recently popped up in Rancho. 

If you’re thirsty or just really want a drink, go get some boba and enjoy the deliciousness.
