A huge asteroid will pass by Earth safely on January 18, 2022. This large stoney asteroid is about 3,280 feet, which is around 2.5 times larger than the empire state building. This approach will be the closest for this asteroid for at least the next 200 years. The speeding asteroid will pass 1.2 million miles from Earth, or about 5.15 times the Earth-moon distance. That’s a safe distance, but close enough to see with a telescope in your backyard. This asteroid will cause no harm to Earth, thankfully and was predicted by scientists to hit in 200 years.
