The Color Rally Challenge is a fun activity for you and your family.

On March 13, Day Creek Intermediate School closed its doors because of the pandemic COVID-19, and students were surprised by the news shortly afterward of distance learning online. But that doesn’t mean that the PE Department stopped working. To replace the canceled Color Rally, administrators created the Color Rally Challenge and invited students to take part in the fun.

“I know this is one of the most fun activities we have (Color Rally) here at Day Creek, so it’s really tough not to be a part of our Color Rally,” said Mr. Apodaca. “But that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun and celebrate our PE teachers. So I’m putting out a challenge to you Day Creek students: I want you to stay active, and show your Day Creek Spirit.”

This challenge was enjoyed by multiple DCIS students, giving them a chance to practice their personal fitness.

“I feel pretty nice because even though we’re all quarantined we can keep up with our fitness (with the Color Rally Challenge). It’s nice to know that we have time to get stronger and enjoy it at the same time,” said 7th grader Tanush M.

The event also encouraged families to interact and exercise together, strengthening physical and emotional bonds.

“We were trying to get everybody involved. [By] doing this workout with their families at home, we’re offering challenges to all of the students’ bodies,” said Mrs. Rose.

But this event wasn’t just for the students; it was for the adults as well. Mr. Henry, Mrs. Rose, Mrs. Macias, Mr. Apodaca, and Mrs. Tarasi all participated.

“I am taking the Color Rally challenge. I started off this morning with some yoga. Then I transitioned to some jump rope, then kettlebells. This (Color Rally Challenge) is what keeps me fit, what keeps my brain strong and my body strong, keeping my body feeling good,” said Assistant Principal Mrs. Tarasi.

So now that you’ve seen other people benefit from this challenge, it’s time to get your body working!
