Aftermath Of New Zealand Massacre: Assault Weapons To Be Banned
Recently, on March 15, 50 victims, that have already been formally identified, died at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand. Less than a week later, New Zealand’s Prime minister, Jacinda Ardern, announced Thursday that “she expected new legislation to be in place by April 11,” according to BBC. “Many people who legally owned certain firearms will no longer be able to possess them on their existing license conditions,” reports CNN.
“To owners who have legitimate uses for their guns, I want to reiterate that the actions being announced today are not because of you and are not directed at you,” Ardern said. “Our actions, on behalf of all New Zealanders, are directed at making sure this never happens again.”
