As students walked through the doors of the cafeteria, a playlist of top twenty hits greeted them. Soon after, a massive dance floor was packed with students who wore their perfect, hand-picked outfits, planned out days in advance. To top it all off, dinner consisted of In-n-Out. Everything was in place for the perfect middle school dance. Whether students went with friends, a date, their Very Important Person, or by themselves, it definitely was a night to remember.
The event was sponsored by Day Creek’s PTSO, which aimed to raise money for our school, which will help fund even more amazing events like this one.
“I was excited to try out new dance moves and talk to all of my friends,” said London W.
The VIP Dance was unique in that 6th and 7th graders won’t have another chance this year to show off their moves. 8th graders will, as the 8th grade dance is coming up on May 17.
But for 6th and 7th graders, this was it. It isn’t everyday that they get to devour an In-n-Out burger on the dance floor. It was so fun!
“My favorite part of the dance was listening to the music and dancing with all my friends,” said Kate B.
Between school work, sports and after school activities, it’s hard to make time for fun, friends, and family. The VIP Dance provided each student with a busy schedule the opportunity to hang out and relax from the typical night of homework. This was a time to wonder about the next dance they’d perform in a dance circle.
“I really looked forward to seeing all the decorations and dancing with my friends,” said Sadie R.
When the music stopped and the lights turned on, students and their Very Important People all seemed to agree that the VIP Dance was a night to remember.
