The 2020 Family Fitness Night was a blast, with a glow theme.

The night was wild. PE teachers, parents, and students roared with delight. Neon lights gleamed in the dark gym creating a cool environment. Music played in the background, mixed with the sounds of laughter.

Family Fitness Night is an annual event enjoyed by both parents and students. But what was the point of the experience?

“We try to have an evening where families can come. We don’t try to make it too strenuous or anything, they can just come and have a fun time,” said Mr. Nemecek, one of Day Creek’s PE teachers.

Students chose between a variety of games with their family or staff, such as nine-square and cage-match. They simply came to enjoy themselves.

“I decided to come (to Family Fitness Night) because I’ve heard many good things about it before and I love parties,” said 6th grader Hannah G.

To top it all off, the gym was completely dark, and everything was shining in neon. Day Creek hadn’t turned out the lights like this before.

“This is our first year of doing the glow theme,” said Mr. Nemecek. “I think we’re going to build upon that every year.”

Alongside the fun, this event was a great help to enhance relationships within a student’s family.

“We got to know each other better, kind of just learning stuff that maybe we didn’t know,” said 6th grader Matthew H.

This night had many fun activities, and the neon lights were an excellent addition. Who knows what the PE teachers will plan next year!
