On September 2nd, during 7th grade lunch, middle school students at Day Creek Intermediate School were invited to discuss what they do as young actors or actresses.

Questions were also asked about their careers.

“You get to create different characters, and it gives you the freedom of who you want to be,” said Courtney C. when asked about why she likes acting.

“When I was younger, I saw multiple plays and I wanted to do it too,” said Taylor M.

Although there are many benefits of acting, there are also some downsides.

“There are a lot of sacrifices,” said Rylie S. talking about her least favorite part about acting.

“Most people that do acting get one job in their lifetime,” said Brennan S. when discussing the challenges to acting.

Many students talked about their experiences with directors. Directors are the building blocks of most acting performances. They are there to give constructive criticism.

“This year I had a hard director.  [Even though he was hard to work with], he was inspiring,” said Elise B.

Even though it is a lot of work, student actors seem to enjoy being on screen, stage, and in advertising.

“I just love to act; it’s my passion,” said Alison B.
