Day Creek Stellar Students: Kathleen G.
March 8, 2018
Day Creek has many different types of students. Along with the such unique personalities, there are also many distinct talents. Unfortunately, school focuses solely on core classes – busy teaching us how many watermelons Jimmy bought, which causes us to overlook other unrelated special skills. Luckily though, you have The Day Creek Howl.
Recently, 7th grader Kathline Gurning performed a piano solo with an orchestra at the Coachella Valley Symphony. After watching the amazing performance (see here), the Howl learned that Kathleen has only been playing the piano for four years. She is very dedicated to growing in her ability. She has never wanted to quit because she loves piano so much. Her parents are very supportive of her and have paid a lot of money to give her the opportunities she needs to help her talent blossom. Kathline also hopes to be able to play more than one instrument when she gets older. Talk about dedication. I started piano and quit in 5 weeks.
After being asked if she had any advice for students with talents who wanted to show other people, she said,“[Students] should be confident in themselves, because they can achieve whatever they want to do.” Wow. Listen to the Mini Mozart, children. Sign up for some lessons and don’t even think about dropping out of band.
On that note, if you want to share your talent with The Day Creek Howl Staff, email us a video at [email protected] and we will come and meet up with you on campus for an interview. Sound cool? That’s because it is.
