The average price of a new car in the U.S. is $33,560. Most adults and families drive cars from inside that price range. However, the most affluent can afford luxurious cars. A recent article by Mike Guy, showcased the top ten most expensive cars on the planet. Here is a list of the top 10 most expensive cars that exist on our planet.
10. Koenigsegg Regera – $1.9 million
Regera is Swedish for “to reign”, which is a perfect name for such an extravagant car. This limited-edition car was revealed at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. Forty of the eighty of these cars have been sold so far. It accelerates 0-249 miles per hour in under twenty seconds.

9. Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta — $2.2 million
Because Ferrari just had its 70th anniversary last December, this car was auctioned off for a mind-blowing seven million dollars for the Save The Children charity fund. One critic describes this car as “one of the most beautiful cars ever made”.

8. McLaren P1 GTR—$2.59 million
The McLaren P1 GTR was built to commemorate the 20th anniversary of McLaren’s win at Le Mans, a well-known car race. Only 58 of these expensive cars exist and they have a top speed of 225 miles per hour.

7. Bugatti Chiron—$2.6 million
The Bugatti Chiron is known for being a fast car. This vehicle accelerates at 0-97 miles per hour in 2.4 seconds. It is the most powerful car ever made with 1,200 horsepower. This car has a top speed of 253.81 mph.

6. Pagani Huayra BC — $2.8 million
This Italian sports car uses a twin turbo, V12 and Mercedes AMG engine. Huayra was named the “Hypercar of the year 2012” by an automobile magazine and has received many positive reviews from other magazines. There have only been 100 models of the Huayra made.

5. Ferrari Pininfarina Sergio — $3 million
This car was first introduced in the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. It was named after a man named Sergio who led Pininfarina for 40 years. Only 6 of these rare cars were produced for private buyers.

4. Aston Martin Valkyrie — $3 million
The Aston Martin Valkyrie is not yet on the market. However, when it is released in 2018, this car will almost certainly be an eye-catcher for most people. According to Red Bull, Aston Martin will only be making 150 Valkyries.

3. Lamborghini Veneno Roadster — $3.3 million
The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster is another rare car, with only nine being made in total. The Roadster definitely has an odd shape. It is based on the 2013 Lamborghini Aventador model. This car has a top speed of 221 mph.

2. Lykan HyperSport — $3.4 million
If you look at the headlights of the car and think that they’re shiny, there is a reason behind that. These cars can either be encrusted with 220 diamonds per headlight or has semi-precious and precious stones that can be chosen by the buyer. This car is seen in the movie Fast and Furious 7.

Here at the top of the list, we have the McLaren P1 LM. The McLaren P1 LM shattered the Nurburgring Race record lap by fourteen seconds. At the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed, it broke another record lap by five seconds.
