Alice In Wonderland Jr. Play
April 18, 2017
“For painting the roses RED, someone will lose their head!”
“A very, merry unbirthday to you, to you!”
“Say ‘How Do You Do’ and shake hands, shake hands, shake hands.”
From April 6 to 7, Mrs. McReynolds, the director, and her crew presented their play, Alice In Wonderland Jr., where their team got to experience the joys of being a part of a musical. Over the course of three months, the students and helpers prepared a play made complete with new lights, choreography, and acting.
One of the most important contributors was the choreographer, Mrs. Walk. She took a crucial part in the choosing the cast.
“We also did vocal auditions as well as choreography auditions, so they had to have some sort of dancing ability and we kind of just fit the personality to the role,” said Mrs. Walk.
According to Mrs. Walk, our school organizes four plays in a rotation: “Alice in Wonderland,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Peter Pan,” and “Annie.” So who’s ready for Beauty and the Beast next year?
Logan H. and Mrs. Haberle were also a huge part of the play’s success. They worked late nights and organized fundraisers to buy the new shining lights.
“Well, my mom helped out backstage and [assisted] with mics… and fundraising. My mom would actually be up until late at night trying to put all the stuff into the play for us,” said Logan.
For all those who doubted that our very own Day Creek students could pull off a performance that big, they sure did put on a show! Anyone who doubts it now has to be mad. But haven’t you noticed…we’re all a little mad?
