As the crisp autumn air settles over Southern California, the Live Oak Canyon Pumpkin Farm in Redlands swings open its gates for its 45th anniversary, transforming 100 acres into a colorful fall wonderland. On Friday, September 26 the Howl visited this sprawling pumpkin patch, greeted by a sea of bright orange pumpkins and the sound of laughter echoing across the fields. Despite recent rainy weather, the scene was anything but gloomy. This fall was in full swing, and the patch was alive with early holiday enthusiasm.

From the moment we arrived, the farm captivated us with its fall aesthetic. Colorful pumpkins line the pathways, and Instagram-worthy backdrops with hay bales, scarecrows and sunflowers beg for photos at every turn. The entrance, framed by blooming flowers, sets the tone for a day of seasonal magic. It’s clear that the designers poured thought and effort into creating an experience that screams autumn.
The patch offers over 70 rides, games and attractions, plus a petting zoo with more than 400 animals. From familiar barnyard friends like chickens and goats to exotic highland cows and peacocks, the zoo is a hit with visitors of all ages. Informative signs share fun facts about each animal, like their names and species, making it both educational and engaging.

Entry to the patch ranges from free to $25, depending on the day, with peak times drawing larger crowds. While you can explore the grounds without additional costs, the real fun lies in the rides and games, which require tickets: $20 for 20 tickets, $40 for 45, or $100 for 120. Each attraction requires three to nine tickets, but for those planning a full day, a $45 wristband grants unlimited access to the rides, making it a better deal for thrill-seekers.
The rides are definitely a highlight, catering to everyone from toddlers to adrenaline junkies. Whether it’s a gentle spin on a kid-friendly ride or a heart-pounding adventure, there’s something for all. Each ride lasts one to three minutes, just long enough to soak in the fun. Games, like ring toss, dart throwing and duck pond, add simple excitement, with cuddly plush toys up for grabs. We watched kids’ faces light up as they clutched their prizes, and even adults couldn’t resist the chance to relive their childhood.
The food options are as varied as the rides, offering everything from savory to sweet. We tried a pretzel from one of the stands, which boasted bold flavors like Hot Cheeto cheese and classic pizza. Mexican candy delivered a tangy, spicy-sweet punch, but the churros were chewy and lacked sweetness, and the caramel apples needed more caramel to live up to their promise. While some stands shone, others fell short, and the prices felt steep for the quality. Still, the variety ensured there was something for every craving.

Popularity comes with a price, but the crowd and traffic did make parking a hassle. But once inside, the patch manages wait times well. Lines for rides and food move steadily, and the vibrant decorations and lively atmosphere keep you entertained while you wait. We spent about four hours exploring, and the time flew by as we darted among the attractions, snapping pics and soaking in the fall vibes.
Live Oak Canyon Pumpkin Farm delivers a memorable experience that captures the essence of Halloween. The rides, games and petting zoo create a joyful escape for families, friends, or even group adventurers like us. The thoughtful decorations and diverse attractions make it stand out among other pumpkin patches. At the same time, the cost of tickets and food can add up quickly, and without a wristband, you might miss out on some rides if your ticket stash runs low.
Despite these drawbacks, the memories made here were worthwhile. From petting a fluffy bunny to cheering on friends at a game booth, the patch allowed for plenty of connection and fun. For its one-of-a-kind vibe and endless activities, the Howl gives Live Oak Canyon Pumpkin Farm a solid 8/10. It’s a fall adventure that’s worth the trip, just bring your wallet and your best fall spirit.
