As the Dodgers near the end of the 2025 regular season, one goal looms large for players and fans: capturing a second straight World Series championship. Only eight teams in the modern era of Major League Baseball have achieved back-to-back titles, a feat last accomplished by the New York Yankees in 1998.
The 2024 Dodgers battled through adversity, particularly with their pitching. Despite several injuries, the team fought deep into October. “The Dodgers really stepped up in the clutch,” said Jimmy C., a lifelong fan. “We had a lot of injuries in the starting pitching, so I am really proud of how the players did their best in that game.”
This season, the Dodgers appear far more prepared. Pitching, last year’s greatest obstacle, has become a strength. “[This year] we are going into the playoffs with our best starting pitching in probably years,” Jimmy said. “We got Tyler Glasnow, Yoshinobu Yamamoto. We got Blake Snell, Shohei Ohtani, and we always have backups like Clayton Kershaw.”
By carefully managing the roster and keeping pitchers on the injured list until fully recovered, the Dodgers have saved their bullpen for the postseason push. Seventh grader Jacob F. agrees the strategy has paid off. “I feel like when all of our players are healthy, they’re a good ball team,” he said. “They have a steady chance at taking the back-to-back World Series.”
Even with stretches of injuries, Los Angeles has largely kept control of the NL West. Fans like Jimmy C. see even greater potential ahead. “Well, I think that this is the beginning of a Dodger dynasty because we just got so many Hall of Famers and so many future Hall of Famers.”
The franchise’s future remains bright. Several stars are locked into long-term contracts, and with Clayton Kershaw nearing retirement, a new generation of arms is ready to step in. As Jimmy suggested, the “Dodger Dynasty” may only be beginning.
Some younger fans are already looking ahead to October matchups. “I think that they will either play the Tigers or the Blue Jays [in the World Series] because they have a really good record,” said Matthew W., a sixth grader on campus.
While the Dodgers’ 2025 campaign has not matched last season’s dominance, they remain among the league’s most formidable teams. With a healthier rotation, depth across the roster, and postseason experience, Los Angeles might just make history.
