On Thursday, December 5, the Day Creek girls’ basketball team played its final game at Heritage Intermediate School. The team lost 40-16, as HIS took the District’s girls title.
HIS dominated the court, and their fans showed their enthusiasm by cheering them on and stomping in the bleachers. They had a tall center, good dribblers, and many strong shooters.
Day Creek’s team struggled with turnovers and scoring, though Rosalie P. had multiple rebounds and assists. Brooklyn B. led the team with 4 points.
“I feel really good about scoring points because I didn’t score any points in the other games. I play outside of school too, where I make a lot of points, so it’s not very fun for me. It felt really good to make points,” said Brooklyn B.
Mr. Celis, one of the coaches of the girls’ basketball team, was proud of the girls’ efforts. They were tenacious with rebounding off the glass, and they never stopped.
“I’m very proud of all the hard work that they’ve put into this game. They’ve been getting better and better with each game, so I’m excited for what’s to happen for us as well. The other team played great defense, and that’s what made them tough for us to beat,” said Mr. Celis.
