How many pairs of shoes and hats do you own?  If you’re like some of the people at Day Creek, it’s probably a lot! Wearing the most expensive accessories is considered a huge flex, and hats and shoes are no exception.

From Nikes to Crocs to Jordans, and from Dodgers to Angels, Day Creek is a place for taste in a variety of both hats and shoes.

Some students have only a few options in their closets while others have such a big assembly of hats and shoes that it feels as if they have a new alternative each day!

“I have about 15 hats, and I’d say 8 pairs of shoes,” says 7th grader Dylan P.

Hats and shoes are used for students to express their personalities.  Different styles reveal their unique interests, and a variety of colors demonstrate different moods. This might show up from the pins on a pair of crocs or the vibrant colors of a hat.

“When I wear my pink hat, I feel happy. I feel amazing because it feels like me,” says Bryce S.

Hats and shoes don’t come cheap. One of the most popular brands is Nike and the average pair can easily top $100. This encourages students to work hard to save cash to get the most “boujee” items money can buy.

“They mean a lot to me because I worked really hard to afford them because they’re pretty expensive.” says Dylan P.

As a result of the hard work to afford the shoes, a student feels the responsibility to keep them in good shape. Maintaining a pair of Nikes, for instance, points to the value of the shoes.

“Box creasing (or lack thereof) is one of these indicators of how worn a sneaker is,” says Sneaker Freaker. “Fewer creases imply better condition and thus demand a higher price.”

Students don’t just buy for the flex, but for the comfort as well. A comfortable shoe results in a happy person with happy feet.

“I like shoes cause they’re comfy and they also look good,” says 7th grader Cameron S.

Shoes and hats are an important part of some students’ lives. They show a big part of their personality and might be an outfit’s highlight.
