Parents With Unique Jobs

What kind of job does your parent have? Unique jobs are right under your nose, you just don’t know it.

A unique job that might be cool is a fragrance chemist. According to About Careers, fragrance chemists are the people who develop and test different scents: women’s and men’s perfume, soap, lotion and other toiletries. Fragrance chemists usually have a background in chemistry or biochemistry with graduate school experience, such as a master’s or doctorate degree.

If you could have any job in the world, what would it be? There are many options out there that may fit your personality and skills. As Confucius said, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”

For instance, Lee McKay, a director of operations for the company MadCatz, said, “Everybody wants to be in the video game industry. You get to travel and learn about new electronics that are coming out, and video games that everybody thinks are cool.”

Lee McKay’s daughter who is a seventh grader at Day Creek Intermediate said, “I wouldn’t want to be in the gaming industry but I find it cool. I find it cool because he gets to know about all the new games and when they come out.”

“[My dad] works on the animatronics and sounds on Disney rides,” said Rory E., a seventh grade student.  “He’s worked on a lot of rehabs like Splash Mountain, Big Thunder, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Indiana Jones. And he might work on the new Star Wars ride”

“My dad is an oral maxillofacial surgeon,” said Xavier H, a seventh grade student. “Basically what my dad does is that he can do almost any surgery from the shoulders up.  He can do face lifts, plastic surgery, and he can fix your face basically.”

Do you have an idea of what you want to be when you grow up? Wouldn’t it be cool to have a job at the White House?  “He works for the Secret Service of the United States of America. [I wouldn’t want to do that career] because of the traveling,” said an anonymous eighth grader.
