Cubs players celebrate after they win the World Series.

108 years. 108 years and the Cubs are at last World Series champs. Let it sink in Chicago.

Unless you are a 110+ year old who’s a fan of the Cubs, chances are, you haven’t seen a championship. The last time the Cubs were in the World Series was 1945 and not many people are alive to remember that. Finally, after 71 years, the Cubbies were back.

The Cubs were up against the Indians, another team with a championship drought. After losing game one, three, and four, it looked like the Cubs were done for. But, thanks to some key contributions from players such as Kris Bryant, Javier Baez, and Anthony Rizzo, the Cubs staged a comeback. The teams ended up tied 3-3 with only one game remaining.

The atmosphere of Wrigley Field stadium was electric.  As the Cubs held a 6-3 lead, all the Cubs fans had championship on their minds. It looked as if that was going to happen until the Cubs coughed up the lead in the 8th inning. But the Cubs weren’t shaken; Dexter Fowler, Javier Baez and David Ross all hit home run bombs. The Indians didn’t give up and made 2 runs. After a tough battle, the Cubs finally, got the last out and won 8-7.

Soak it up Chicago, you’ll never know if you will see another championship in Wrigley Field again.
