Kobe Bryant Retires

Thanks for the Laker memories, Kobe

Kobe Bryant is finishing up his last season playing in the NBA. His incredible skills on the court have set records for years. For starters, he is the only man to play twenty years with one franchise. He was also the youngest player to start a game: only eighteen years old. He has two gold medals, seventeen All-Star Game appearances, and five NBA titles.

After taking a loss against the Pacers, Bryant used the post-game press conference to discuss his retirement.

“I finally just had to accept the fact that I don’t want to do this anymore. I’m excited for what is to come, obviously,” Bryant said.

Most of the excitement surrounding Bryant these days involves his guaranteed spot in the Basketball Hall of Fame. His plaque will be shining proudly next to legends like Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and James Worthy.

Kobe’s 37-year-old body has battled injuries for years. In 2013, a painful Achilles’ tendon rupture sat him down for the rest of the season. Last year, he suffered a torn rotator cuff that shut his game down for nine months.
Lakers fans have been crushed by the news of his retirement. However, most realize that Kobe’s career will not soon be forgotten.
