On Tuesday, March 7, Mr. Ferrari and Mrs. Morrison’s eighth grade classes took a field trip to the Lincoln Shrine in Redlands, California. On this field trip, the students got to explore a variety of Lincoln memorabilia.

“This is the largest collection of Lincoln mementos and historical stuff sent from the Mississippi River over,” said Mrs. Morrison.

On the trip, there were many artifacts to see, such as guns, telegraphs, and even saws used for treating war injuries. The eighth grade curriculum teaches about U.S. history, so the students were able to link what they’ve learned to things that they saw at the memorial.

“We’ve read the book, ‘Chasing Lincoln’s Killer,’ so hopefully they can take that book and what we’ve learned about Lincoln…and it’ll make more sense to them and be more meaningful.”
