2016 E3 Fun Run

On Saturday, October 1, the E3 Fun Run took place at Central Park. the event kicked off with the Mascot Dance-off. Then, the 2k race began. Once the 2k run finished the final competition was the 5k. After the 5k run was finished, medals were awarded.

For the 2k race, the first place finishers for both boys and girls, age 0-9  was Brock F. and Sussette B. For the 10-14 age group, Sinclair H and Logan G placed first.

Crossing the finish line can bring lots of emotion.  “I felt happy because I finished. I was also tired too,” said Audrey W.

In the 5k run, Grant S. finished with an outstanding 17 minutes and 49 seconds for the 15-99 age group. Emeline M. was the first female competitor to cross the finish line in 22 minutes and 35 seconds. She started running this competition when she was in . “I think [I was in] fourth or fifth grade when I started doing this. I wanted to go a minute faster,” said Emeline M.

The 5k first place finishers for the 0-9 age group were Gia R. and Emmanuel L. For the 10-14 ages Emeline M. and Clark S. finished in first place

Mr. Apodaca and Mr. Carson were also there. Apodaca came in in sixteenth place, before Carson, with a time of 24 minutes and 10 seconds. Carson came in twenty-fourth place with a time of 27 minutes and 22 seconds.

“If it was 3 miles or under it would be me, Mrs. Lyon, then Mr. Carson. If it was more than three miles I would put my money on Mrs. Lyon,” said Mr. Apodaca.

“Apodaca already beat me. I know that, so he is a faster runner than me. Bet you Mrs. Lyon would probably beat me too,” said Mr. Carson.

The E3 Fun Run ended with each of the  top three participants of each age group receiving their shiny medals. The overall winners each left with a trophy. Some people came dressed in socks, shirts and capes to support the superhero theme. With so many people from different schools and areasthe event seemed to be a enjoyable for all involved.
